January Update!

New Charity Partner

For the 4th Annual Discover Whitewater Series, we have partnered with the J-Hawk Aquatic Club as our new charity partner. Representing both the Janesville and Whitewater areas, the J-Hawk Aquatic Club offers experienced coaching for several different age-level teams. The club has graciously promised all of their received proceeds to aid in teaching underpriviledged children to swim. They have also offered to provide needed volunteers for the DWS race day. The J-Hawk Aquatic Club is a Not-For-Profit charitable organization, and we are proud to be working with them for this year’s race.

Kids Korral

To ensure that all members of the family have an opportunity to participate in this year’s series, the Discover Whitewater Series will once again be offering a Kids Korral.  The Kids Korral is a combined effort of DWS and UW-Whitewater’s College of Education & Professional Studies. UW-Whitewater students and volunteers in education will be available to watch kids in a safe environment (6 mos. to 12 years) while parents participate in the Half Marathon or 5K.  This is a free service to any adult who is registered for the Discover Whitewater Series.  Volunteers for the Kids Korral will have previously been through a background check, and will be managed by Dr. Robin K. Fox, Chair, UW-Whitewater’s College of Education & Professional Studies. Please remember to register your children for this event. Same-day drop off will not be accepted.
